BUYING
ADVICE & TIPS
Buying a new or pre-owned vehicle can be a very stressful and intimidating ordeal if you are not educated and prepared before you start your transaction. The Auto Wizard has put together a few tips that can make this experience a little easier and hopefully save you a lot of time and money. Once you have followed these steps look for the DEAL VIEW tab on the home page and input the information you have gathered so it can be Auto Wizard Approved.
1. The most important thing to remember, when shopping for your next vehicle, is to be educated about where and what your shopping for. Make sure that you are dealing with a dealership that has a good reputation and is willing to work with your vehicle needs. Once you’ve found a location DO YOUR RESEARCH on the vehicle you want to buy. Search for things like vehicle ratings, equipment options, fuel mileage, insurance ratings, and re-sale values. If your going to purchase a new vehicle search for things like current incentives and rebates, either way do your home work first before you step foot in a dealership.
2. Don’t buy outside your budget! The main reason the auto industry is in its current shape, is because the buyer and the dealer stretch the payment limits based on wants and needs, not what’s practical and affordable. Set a price range based upon your income and don’t exceed that payment. The best way to do this is to calculate your monthly income times 12%. This is the percentage that most financial companies limit auto loan payments to. You can go to the home page and find the payment calculator and let the Auto Wizard match a vehicle price to a payment that will fit your budget.
3. NEW or USED, make sure that you test drive any vehicle you are considering. Look for things such as warning lights that may be on, any noise that does not sound right, pulling to the left or right and check the operation of all electrical buttons and switches. If the vehicle is used make sure to closely check the A/C, four wheel drive, and transmission. Be sure to look under the hood for any oil leaks and check all fluid levels. Remember vehicles are man made and every one is different.
4. The last thing to remember is to negotiate your best deal before you let the dealer know that you are trading your current vehicle. This will give you a better idea of what the real money is on your trade. Be sure to look at some market values on your trade and get a good idea of what your trade is worth before you start your vehicle search. You can go to the home page and find the appraisal tab and ask the Auto Wizard for your vehicles value.
